"Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:1-4 NKJV, emphasis added by me)
As I've challenged others over the last number of weeks, I've been very convicted myself over my own lack of prayerfulness for the local leaders in my city, county and state. There's much at stake for our nation right now, far beyond the presidential race.
LORD, help us fulfill this "first of all" command to a depth of obedience that is entirely pleasing to You. Where our lack of prayer has stayed Your hand of deliverance and justice, forgive us O God and turn our hearts, that they would rightly align with Your heavenly directives. God, we are honored to partner with You in our prayer closets for the healing of our communities, for the healing of our nation, and ultimately, for Your glory!
Make us joyful intercessors! AMEN.
